OLD SALTY'S WEEKEND CAMP LIST

Personal Water Bottle - make it yours!
Please be sure and send along a distinct bottle that your child will be able to recognize as theirs, with their name on it!.
We push fluids to ensure that all campers drink the amount of water necessary throughout the week, as it does get very hot.

Note: NO breeches please! Please stick to jeans for your riding - NO HIP HUGGERS, FLARE or BELL bottoms as they are not safe.
This is a western camp so we want to keep it cowboy! Bring several pairs as they do get dirty.

Here's your list of things to bring to camp - be sure and call if you have any questions!

Flashlight
Lawnchair
Earplugs (if you need to block out snoring ha ha)
Camera (please put your name on it)
Favorite book or DVD for downtime
Bluejeans (one good pair for show, one or two hack around pairs) ****no bell or flare bottoms please!
Track pants for relaxing at night
Teeshirts for a few days (at least ONE long sleeved)
Sweatshirt for cool nights
Shorts
Rain jacket (pants not necessary, it's quite warm at this time of year)
Ball cap & sunglasses (great for hat head days)
Bathing suit and towel
Toiletries (toothbrush, deoderant, bandaids, etc)
Anti inflammatory of choice
Socks and undergarments
Bug dope (we find deep woods off is best, usually with deet)
Suntan lotion
Gloves *optional* (light weight, leather, snug fit preferred)
Sleeping bag and pillow
Pocket knife (for carving marshmallow stick)
Shoes for hacking around when not riding
Riding Boots -  must have a minimum 1.5 cm heel with a 90 degree 'notch' (not a smooth & rounded heel)
*we have extras if required - see notes below for details of what type of boot you will need*

NOTE:  WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND A HELMET DURING TRAINING, WE HAVE LOTS IF YOU DON'T.

COMPETITION CLOTHING
- it doesn't have to be fancy, but there is a dress code - see notes below

1.  Riding Boots (cowboy boots, paddock boots, or an ankle height lace up street style boot with a small heel)
*call me if you don't know what to bring - try hitting the good will or clothing bank, we've found good cowboy boots there!
WE HAVE A GOOD SUPPLY OF WESTERN BOOTS HERE AT THE FARM IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANTHING SUITED.

2.  Western Shirt (colorful, cotton button down long or short sleeved shirt, with collar - must have sleeves)
The colorful shirts are nice.  DON'T go to a western store and buy an $80 western shirt - any button down shirt will do - Value Village is great for this - find something colorful with a button down collar that is light cotton and comfortable on a hot day.

3.  Blue Jeans (straight leg or boot cut only)  The flare or bell bottom leg is not appropriate for western events.  It's not safe either, as the bell bottom gets caught in the stirrup.  Bring your regular camp jeans, but bring a nicer pair to show in.  Any color is allowed, so long as they are straight leg!   If you want to dress it up with a belt and buckle, feel free!
