Our little cow pony proved to
be quite a popular girl this summer.
Markie gets her name from her well known father, "Mark the Colonel", a
popular cutting horse sire in Ontario. Of course, he is by the infamous
"Colonel Freckles", and so we are very proud of Markie's cutting horse
background. She is one of Matt's favorite horses, and once she became accustomed
to cows she has shown a natural talent and exhibits really innate 'western' style,
with the slow lope and the lower headset that produces a really comfortable canter.

Markie is a fun ride and is
very amicable with her riders, whether
they are novice riders or experienced. Her ground manners are excellent,
and she's very nicely put together so we are hoping to breed her in the future,
possibly to our own stud here at the farm. She's a nice sized mare, standing
fifteen and a half hands high, with very solid legs and a nice 'cowhorse' butt.

Markie went through all of our
camps this year, and gained
experience in everything from team penning to riding english
to camping on tump lines out in the bush. And throughout the summer,
she showed herself to be a really loveable mare, willing to accept everything
we threw at her, and the perfect lady even with beginners. All of our
clients, young and old, loved her, and so will you!
