RIDING LESSONS SHOULD BE FUN!

Riding Lessons at Highland Wilderness Tours are overseen by
owner/proprietors Matt and Penny Nicol, avid riders and trainers.
With well over Twenty Years experience in owning & training horses,
not to mention running a successful riding stable, both Matt and Penny
have plenty to share with their young students.  Firm believers in
continuing education, both keep up with modern techniques by
not only participating in off- site lessons and clinics, but regularly
invite informative and educational guest teachers to the farm.
To the Nicols, riding lessons in both seats, provided for for all ages
and experience levels, given in a safe, relaxed and non-intimidating
atmosphere is the goal of the year round riding program.

are young, caring, talented riders who
are an outstanding asset to our program.
Chantelle Devitt (pictured left) has been
riding since she was just seven years old.
Coached by eventing coach Nancy Tapley,
Chantelle and her horse "Boomerang"
qualified last year in Pre-training (90)
for the Ontario Championships.  This
year, she &  her new horse "Finest Lace"
(pictured after only 3 wks) moved up
to Training Level, won their 1st show at
Training & double qualified for the
Ontario Championships - again!
Kelly Goddard (right) is a student at
Kemptville College for Equine Studies
and has been working for us now for two
years.  Kelly is very popular with students!

We're very proud of our staff, because their hard work and dedication make our program a success!

FOR STUDENTS

During the summer, the farm is a hubbub of
activity with the Nine Children's Summer
Riding Camps designed by the Nicols.  Nine
totally unique, fun filled and highly educational
events designed to provide a fresh approach
to summer camp themes.  Regular
riding lessons continue during the summer,
and our serious students are invited to join
in the festivities, which allows them to enter
shows and sporting events to compete
against young riders from all over the world!
And, with camp themes ranging from barrel
racing and roping, to team penning and other
cowhorse events ~ from training jumpers to
competing in our on site Hunter Jumper Show
~ opportunities abound for our students.

THERE'S SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE!

We are open year round here in Maynooth,
Ontario, and we run our lessons (weather permitting)
throughout the calendar year.  Our riding paddock
is maintained to allow outdoor lessons in winter,
and we do our best to maintain a weekly schedule.
Lessons aren't restricted just to children!  We've
taught many adults who have come to enjoy lessons at
middle age (and older) with great success!  It just goes
to show you, you're only as old as you feel!

(and it's never too late to learn a new trick)
