Left is our "HOLLY" when she came to us back in
the fall of 2006 - straight out of the field and never ridden. Matt
said 'no WAY' when I told him I had found a nice pony. He hates
those ponies. I saw something in Holly and so forced the issue,
and the rest, as they say, is history! Our Holly has taken her spot
here at our kids camp, and has vastly exceeded my expectations.
At right with awesome camper, Holly captured Champion of Open
Hunter Division - over horses three times her size - FIRST SHOW!

This is Holly NOW! Quite a transformation, wouldn't you say?
It didn't come without alot of help, of course. This is Jessica,
one of my regular students, putting her through her paces
in the fall of 2007 at a local club show. She is just the right
sized kid to bring ponies along - and she's tough enough to
take it when they don't do exactly as told. Holly has been
very quick to come around to being a nice all round pony,
and we couldn't be more pleased with her. Doesn't she look
fancy in her gear? I bought Jessica those boots when she
started the show season, to thank her for such a great job!

Here's another kid that has put a bit of riding on
our pony. Tanya is one of our regular students
as well - she rode Holly off and on this summer,
here she is pictured on a trail ride. There is one
really great thing about ponies - they are easy to
mount and dismount on trail rides, eh Tanya?
Holly is 13.1 HH so she is the perfect size for
us at the stable - and can take a small adult
if we need her in a pinch for a guide horse.

But in case you think Holly is just for staffers -
no sirree! She has proven herself to be a very
versatile camp horse, taking our smaller kids
through their paces. Pictured right she is
team penning at Headin West - the cow is
almost bigger than she is! This is actually an
advantage because it freaks them out, seeing
a pesky pony face to face, and they run better!!
And picturedat left, Holly attacks 2'9" with her
Hunter Jumper camper - no sweat! She loves
to jump and is quite happy to canter the
whole course. Of course, braiding her mane
is always a challenge, as with any pony.

And of course, Holly goes western!
Holly's perfect camper is about
ten to thirteen years old and has
ridden at least a bit (to keep ahead
with ponies you have to think fast!)
and someone who loves ponies of
course. Being smaller has some
advantages - better on the cows,
easy to canter through a course,
a really close to the ground if
you turn a barrel just a little
too fast! (kidding of course) Even
Matt has had to admit, Holly is
a special pony - so he is going to
let me BREED her next year!!!
I have picked out a lovely
German Riding Pony for her
and can't wait to see it through.
Holly's here to stay, and just
may change Matt's mind about
ponies being "God's Revenge
on Children......" (ha ha ha)
