Horseback riding on the trails near
Algonquin Park is a serene
experience. Getting close to what is natural ~ with just you, your mount,
and the muffled sounds of the forest around you. It's so peaceful, that the
longer you ride, the further away your 'real' life seems....
~ GET OUT AND ENJOY ONTARIO ~

Here's a great way to get out and enjoy Ontario's wilderness
without all
the effort involved in hiking or canoeing - horses do all the work,
and you enjoy the scenery.
You'll see many things on your wilderness excursion.
" Silently, we creep alongside a beaver
dam. The black water ripples at eye level,
even though we're on horseback. Sticks & mud form a bristly sculpture, four
feet high along a large stretch of the trail. We splashed across the creek and
headed on. No sign of the old man today, although we know he is here.
He's never far from home..."
~ Beavers are the
"Engineers" of the forest ~

You'll enjoy the benefits of trail riding on a
quality horse.
"Abby was amazing today.
She crossed all the obstacles without a fuss, and made
me feel very comfortable aboard her surefooted frame. Although I am a bit tender,
I know that in an hour we'll be back at our base camp cabin, to untack our horses
and kick our boots off for the night. I can't wait to spend time grooming and caring
for my horse, and enjoying the peaceful forest around camp. The air is so clean
here....
the city so far, far away."
~ Ontario's wilderness is a
Paradise so relax, enjoy ~
Perhaps the creatures of the forest will reveal themselves.
"Today, we rounded a corner of
the trail to find a large female moose blocking the
way. We stopped, and the horses at first were unaware of her presence. Our
guide
snapped a few photos, until her lead horse realized there was something unusual
ahead. Almost on cue, the moose turned and ambled quickly down the trail, her
gangly legs swinging in a strange elastic rythm. We followed along, catching
glimpses
of her, until suddenly, she turned and disappeared into the forest. As we passed the
spot ,
our horses seemed to walk on tiptoes, ear tips touching, until we were past the
spot.
It was exciting and truly inspiring...."
~ They are there, and they
are watching us ~

The trails you traverse will be like none you have travelled.
"Riding through the swamp was a
thrill. Up to their chest in water, the horses carefully
negotiated every unseen bump on the natural gravel trail under the chill waters of the
marsh.
Around us, the watershed was a living example of nature's filtering system. Plants,
birds, frogs
and turtles watched us as we passed through their watery neighbourhood. The fresh
moose tracks
in the mud told of it's recent passing, and was a gentle reminder that there were
creatures who
went about their daily business, away from prying eyes. The trail continued on,
through a dense
forest with tiny winding trails, until we reached the camp. Reaching our
destination was bittersweet,
yet it was the perfect ending to our magnificent day".
~ The wilderness is full of
natural wonders, if you merely take the time to look ~
