For girls of all ages, looking for a fantastic week of horse activity
with lots of riding & one on one horse time - this one has TONS of trail riding!
The young riders we've met at camp in the past have really wowed us with
their abilities, so we've devised this camp JUST FOR THEM! We've seen some
pretty awesome riders in this age group, so we wanted something SPECIAL.

When our campers arrive, we match them up with a horse that suits their
size and abilities. We've been doing this a while, so we're pretty good at it!
We get right to things the first morning, and have a fun lesson that ensures
we have a good fit for the week. Then, in the afternoon, we hit the trails!
At this time of year, the trails are at their peak - no bugs, nice cool days,
and usually, plenty of sunshine to help us enjoy the day on the trails!

IMPORTANT - BARNSMANSHIP!
All good riding programs for younger campers
support safe practices, & teach good barnsmanship.
The campers will learn all about how to properly
care for & maintain our beginner friendly riding horses
in between trail rides and paddock games. Our Trail
riding horse campers are shown all sorts of safety info!
We find the more time spent with the horses, the better!
Our brand new barn is a great spot for all the fussing
the girls want to do with their favorite horse.

FIRST OF ALL .... TRAILS!
Our wilderness farm backs onto some of
the best trails that Ontario has to offer!
Gorgeous lakes and streams and beaver
ponds are right at our fingertips, and our
horse crazy campers from past years have
loved the raw beauty of enjoying it on
horseback. Each trail is an interesting
trip all on it's own, and our Frontier Trail
campers will see it all, and enjoy the
thrill of our Algonquin area trails & forests!

There are many things to see in our area, with everything from swamps, to lakes, to hidden clearings
in the forest. If you look carefully, you'll see lots of little forest critters - because we are DEFINITELY
riding our horses 'off the beaten path'! There's lots to see, and the kids enjoy exploring every day.

Our campers are a variety of ages - the most important
thing is that they be able to absorb some riding skills,
and that they are willing to learn how to safely handle
a suitable horse in the barn, in the ring, and on the trail.
We have a broad range of ages at this particular camp,
but it works well because we keep them so darn busy!
We teach them riding and barnsmanship, but also....

.... GAMES!
Drawing on our many great camps from the past,
we have a wide variety of 'in paddock games' dreamed
up! Games designed to teach our campers everything they
need to know about horses and riding, and help our
'ready to canter' kids make the leap! Visual aids, games,
& other fun stuff keep things moving and there is no
END to the things you can do with a bit of imagination!
Everyone always loves the games portion of our camps.
It teaches riding in a FUN, FUN FUN way - a sure hit......!

OUR HORSES ARE USED TO TRAILS!
We've been at this a while - and we have developed
a herd of horses that are f un to ride, can do everything
we ask, and are generally, very good natured characters.
They do the trail riding year round, and I daresay they
know the system better than we do! They are used to
all the things we see, and used to standing tied and
well behaved during rest stops. Here, Sporty gives
himself a scratch, while waiting for his rider to go!

OF COURSE WE HAVE TO SWIM!
There are a variety of lakes close to the farm,
and we have an 18' pool for convenience.
After getting warmed up in the ring or on the
trails, our campers cancool off and
enjoy some downtime from riding.

As always, we go for full immersion! From our cozy cabin
with nightly crackling campfire in an on farm wilderness
campsite ~ to our nightly ritual of goofing around & relaxing
by a roaring fire or watching a movie - it's an atmosphere
that's proven itself to be a popular teenage experience!
Relaxing at night and enjoying crispy marshmallows and comraderie
with their new friends is a feature attraction of all our camps!
SOLID GOLD CAMPERS
Our Summer Riding Camp and Riding Stable Lesson
program has grown to be something we are very
proud of here at Highland Wilderness Tours. We
enjoy each and every crazy camper that chooses
our stable for their summer riding fun. And there
have been some fantastic memories over the years.
It's our campers who have helped to develop this
very diverse and fun filled Ridng Camp Program!
Our Frontier Trail camp is just one of the many
ways we try to custom fit our program to the
hopes and dreams of kids looking for some great
fun on horseback, and a refreshing break from
normal routines. Frontier Trail camp is a blast!

Horses always seem to bring out the best in children.
With today's demanding school curriculum, the summer
should be a time for children to get out and enjoy some
free time, plus fresh air and outdoor activities, and of
course, NEW FRIENDS AND GREAT HORSES!!
